I was approached by Jamie from Coquette Events to make a basketball themed desserts for one year old birthday party. This was one exciting order since I was asked to make several different desserts. I created a basketball themed giant cupcake with fondant topper, cupcake fondant toppers, basketball cake pops, basketball cookies and Jordan III sugar cookies. The photos were taken by Greg Ma.
Our desserts were also featured on On to Baby.
This was my first attempt on creating a figurine like this with fondant. The eyes, brows and mouth were painted by hand.
One mistake I made was moving the figurine a little too much after it dried so the boy’s left leg cracked. It is important not to move or reposition the dried fondant too much to avoid breakage. The beach boy figurine was made with 100% fondant. Can you imagine how it will look on top of the cake. I loved how it turned out.

This cake was inspired by the birthday party theme-Hello Kitty & Balloons. I created a Hello Kitty lifted by the balloon while floating on the cloud. Since Hello Kitty’s world is full of pink color so I used pink fondant for the cake to match the theme. I made a matching bow with ribbon around the cake. This Hello Kitty figurine was molded with rice cereal treats. Hello Kitty is about 7.5″ inches tall and 12.5″ with balloon. The cake was a 8″ white cake with vanilla buttercream filling.

This cake was inspired by Kate’s favorite character–Boots in Dora the Explorer!! The cake was a 8″ two layer cake covered with fondant. Dora and Boots were made out of fondant and 100% edible. I decided to use Boots’ silhouette around the cake since it’s Kate’s favorite character.
